Alf in Deutschland

Can it really be so long since I last posted my woes here? In true Alf fashion plenty has passed since May 2008. I left my job at the end of May for a new start-up by a former customer of my last but one company and staffed with many former colleagues. All was good, my commute to work was 2 miles further yet took less time as I passed my former turn-off and then turned against the flow of traffic. I was working not half a mile from Dr Zep's house and even had the pleasure of bumping into Mrs Zep on occasion.

And then, after just 4 months, our Taiwanese masters pulled the plug. Good money, a good location, interesting work; this was not the life for Alf. No! A period of unemployment was more my place.

To cut a long and tedious story short - shall I tell you how I painted the outside of the kitchen doors where TFD had rubbed all the paint off standing up to look in the kitchen? No? Good idea, especially as he has managed to scrape much of the new paint off - I finally found an opportunity in Nuremberg.

I fly out from Stansted weekly, the work is good, the money makes the travel feasible, I have an apartment in the Altstadt in sight of the castle and (after several missed appointments and missed visits from Deutsche Telekom) I finally have an Interweb. Alles in ordnung.

Now the flat smells of fish. A bottle of Thai fish sauce gently tumbled out of the fridge on to the tiled floor. Now, did it shatter? Did it bounce? Did it crack? Or did the complete base of the bottle shear off dumping the entire contents on the floor? I shall leave you to select the right answer.
