Alf goes to the cinema
How simple a plan can it be? Whoever gets to the cinema first buys the tickets. Now, being a Friday night I should have booked ahead but Avatar has been out for a while now. I arrive at 8.20pm, 10 minutes before the film. Plenty of time to buy tickets.
No, sign of Simon or his chum from the village. I'm about to join the queue when I spot the display - "Avator - Sold Out". Now that wasn't in the plan. Then Simon appears. I point out the sign. He says he has just bought tickets upstairs from a machine. I ask if he got three.
"No, we just bought 2 because we weren't sure if you had come in already and bought your own."
Oh for f...I thought the plan was whoever arrived first would buy the tickets. Still, my own fault for not booking ahead. Typical, though, Dr Zep, the Rev, the Bushmeister and Korfballman have all seen it already.
Now, I'm not sure if this is an Alf or un-Alf moment but Simon called the next day to say the film broke down after 10 minutes. They were unable to get it going again so they got a refund and took themselves off to the pub.
We try again next Tuesday.
