The Kiwi, the Alpha Male

From the Kiwi:
"Well it was a long week but Friday 5pm arrived late but welcome. As is my won't I ventured to the staffroom on the 15th floor for a Monteiths Pilsener. The room is long and has floor to ceiling windows on one side and public bar type high tables running down the centre of most of its length. All the men were clustered at the window watching the new, taller crane being erected on the highrise building site next door, while the chicks were all seated at the table, facing away from the windows, tucking into crisps and a fine Sauvignon Blanc. I was informed by one, a pretty and athletic NZ Chinese girl, that my choice of which group I joined would comment strongly on my gender identity. I commented that sitting with the chicks, for that is what I called them, confirmed my hairy legged alpha male stature in no uncertain terms.

Then I went to watch the crane."

And in a distinctly non-Alf-like move, following on from the water damage last month the insurance company insisted on painting the entire stairs and landing and the bathroom as well as sorting the damaged ceilings. Mrs Alf is very pleased having selected the colour and paint type she wanted - the contractor had very little option. Of course, she is now eyeing up every room for redecoration. Time to keep an even lower profile.
